What I've never been able to understand is why the G5 doesn't do well with Handbrake encodes - even using the G5 optimized build of handbrake its dissapointing....brennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7601962.post-82356719006618085672009-12-27T09:38:26.677-05:002009-12-27T09:38:26.677-05:00I second that - I had a G4 Mac mini 1.42Ghz. I have this same machine, and do a lot of handbrake encoding (also on a 2.1Ghz G5 iMac and a 2.5Ghz C2D MacBook Pro). The G5 is slow - the G4 even slower. Look on Handbrakes own benchmarks for your 1.42Ghz Mac mini - you're looking at about 4 fps!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7601962.post-89860236127870083402008-05-06T06:35:00.000-04:002008-05-06T06:35:00.000-04:00imac g5 is good.Apple iMac Core 2 DuoThe Apple iMa...imac g5 is good.
Apple iMac Core 2 Duo
The Apple iMac 24" C2D desktop Computer video deail and
New Apple iMac 4th Gen and
Apple iMac G5 AdAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7601962.post-1162852465648448072006-11-06T17:34:00.000-05:002006-11-06T17:34:00.000-05:00There has to be something wrong with your Handbrak...There has to be something wrong with your Handbrake benchmark on the iMac G5. I use Handbrake all the time on my G4 1.42 Ghz Mac Mini to encode mp4's using the defaults and consistently get 23-25 fps.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7601962.post-1161989122042686652006-10-27T18:45:00.000-04:002006-10-27T18:45:00.000-04:00Hi,Thanks for the review! it helped me a lot to be...Hi,

Thanks for the review! it helped me a lot to better measure its power against other machines (upgrading from a tricked out dual G4 1.42GHz).

Could you test a very simple thing that will clear more things to me? Specially in the GPU/mem/CPU power ratio and integration... I tested a default 24" model today and want to know how much the system enhances going to the 2.33/7600 model..

Please download the BBC Japan 1080p video and play it... (not fullscreen) pop an info window (CMD+i) to see framerate and look carefully at the begginning: the steam in teapot scene (panning up), then follows a tea room shot (panning down I believe) and the it comes the toughest part I've found in HD video: the panning down on a zillion red leaves with an old men going up the stairs. Is it smooth in the red leaf trees panning down?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7601962.post-1158904688319741092006-09-22T01:58:00.000-04:002006-09-22T01:58:00.000-04:00Thanks for the aperture video. Plus my wife thinks its cute.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
